Independence Day elocution - First in class

Good Morning Everybody. Now I am going to talk about Independence Day.

We celebrate Independence Day on 15th August every year. This year we are celebrating our 71st independence day.

It is a very important day in the Indian history. It was on this day in 1947 that India became independent from the British rule after 200 years of slavery.

On 15th Aug 1947 our first Prime Minister Pundit Jawaharlal Nehru unfurled The National Flag at The Red Fort for the first time.

Every year, the prime minster unfurls the national flag at The Red Fort. A salute of 21 guns is fired. The military band plays the national anthem.

The Independence Day is celebrated all over India with great joy. People hold meetings. Fly the tricolour and sing the national anthem.

We celebrate Independence Day every year to remember the great leaders who have sacrificed their lives in getting freedom for India.

In 1857 an Indian soldier, Mangal Pandey had first raised his voice against Britishers for the independence of India. We have struggled for several decades from 1857 to 1947 get our independence.

We should remind ourselves the sacrifices of great leaders like Mahatma Gandhi, Bhagat Singh, Subhash Chandra Bose, Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, Rani Laxmi Bhai, etc.

On this day we should take an oath to sincerely perform our duty and lead this nation successfully.

Jai Hind, Jai Bharat.
