Together we can achieve more.

Together we can achieve more.

Good morning everyone. Today I am going to talk about “Together we can achieve more”.
Let me start with the story of PV Sindhu. We all know, PV Sindhu is the first Indian woman to win an Olympic silver medal in badminton. Her success was not just an ordinary event. It was a miracle. She made our nation proud. Her success is a perfect example of her teamwork and togetherness with her coach, co-players and family.
Let me give some beautiful examples of advantages in unity. Animals like Buffalos organize themselves like a band of soldiers to protect themselves from predators. Wolves always hunt as a pack.
Even human beings are social animals. Each of us have unique talent. We all work together in our day to day lives to achieve success. For example, teachers teach students, farmers grow crops and feed people, tailors stitch clothes, doctors look after patients, soldiers protect our country’s borders, etc. Thus unity and togetherness is basic force of life on earth.
Our country India is known to be a multicultural land where people from different religious, cultural and social background live in harmony.
In the past, British rulers adopted the policy of “Divide and rule” and started ruling our country. They treated us like slaves. Mahatma Gandhiji led India to independence by uniting people through various independence movements including “Dandi March”. Our freedom was possible only because of our unity and togetherness.
Let us refresh our memories on some of India’s greatest achievements.
We have the world famous monuments such as Brihadeeshwara temple, Taj Mahal, Golden temple, etc. In 2014, we achieved Polio Eradication. In 2013, we successfully launched Mangalyaan.
All these achievements make India a strong and powerful nation. We will soon emerge to be world leader with our togetherness.
Before concluding, I would like to point out where we are failing in our togetherness. There is so much competition in today’s world. We are running after success and see our peers as competitors. We should learn from our studious friends instead of bullying them as “nerd”. Also we should help a student who struggles in studies instead of calling him a “loser”.
Let’s sensitize ourselves on this serious issue. We students should join together and focus our efforts to make new inventions in fields of science and technology.
Let me conclude by quoting Henry Ford, “Coming together is a beginning; keeping together is progress; working together is success.”
Friends, let us work together to make miracles and make the world beautiful.
Thank you!

Role of Indian scientist on Space research

I am going to talk about the “role of Indian scientist on Space research”.

Today I am going to talk about 3 famous scientists. Vikram Sarabhai, Venkataraman and Anuradha TK.

Let me start with our ambitious Scientist Vikram Sarabhai, who founded ISRO. He is widely regarded as the father of India's space programme. ISRO is working MANGALYAAN -2 and CHANDRAYAN-2. Without Vikram Sarabhai these achievements will not be possible.

Next I will talk about Venkataraman. Venkataraman was a Scientist and Astrophysicist. His observations helped the world in understanding pulsars, interstellar clouds and galaxy structures.

Next, the one of the famous women scientist Anuradha TK. Anuradha's role was instrumental in developing and launching the ISRO communication satellite GSAT-12 satellite into space.

Let me conclude by thanking all our scientists for their hard work and making India proud internationally. Thank you.

Impacts of media on students.

Today I am going to talk about the impacts of media on students.

Media refers to the communication medium like Newspaper, TV and Internet. As students, we started using media from the time we were kids. We have learnt alphabets and rhymes using TV and smart phones.
Let me start with the advantages of using media.
Firstly Newspaper and Magazines. We read Newspaper to know about Sports, Movies, and Science facts. We read magazines like Magic pot and Tinkle which brings happiness and builds our vocabulary.
Secondly Television. On TV, we watch cartoons and movies. National Geography and Discovery helps us to know about our surroundings.
Finally Internet. We browse internet for all our activities. We use Wikipedia to collect information for school projects. We use YouTube to sing, dance and draw. We use online classes from Byju’s to learn math and science. We buy toys from Flipkart and Amazon.
Thus Media has helped us in many ways.
Now let me talk about disadvantages of using media.
1.      Firstly, As Media increases our screen time, we get less sleep. So we are less attentive in class. Since we are not sleeping properly, we become weak or obese.
2.      Secondly, we don’t understand the advertisements we watch. For example we see advertisements for Ice creams, Chocolates, Pizza, and soft drinks. We think eating and drinking these items will make us happy. We should understand that advertisements can mislead us.
Let me conclude with a famous saying, "There are two sides in every coin" meaning we can't have good things without bad things.  Let us be cautious and use Media wisely.
Thank you

Annual Brag - 2018-2019!!

DD1 (9yo entering IV grade)
Eng - Reading skill is good, comprehending& writing skills are yet to improve. I don't know how to grade her. Comparing to most of her peers, she is above her level. We will be working on her story telling and comprehending and writing skills.
Science - She has shown interest in human anatomy and self taught herself circulatory, respiratory and urinary system using khan academy. She completed all the basic videos. She even drew them so she can remember. She took the basic quiz too. But I don't know how much she still remembers and how much she can recollect. In Physics, she understood the basics of light and sound.  Now she wants to learn electricity. But I want her to learn basics of Force and laws of motion before proceeding.
Math - Khan academy 8th grade completed. Though she completed the mastery challenge, she makes mistakes in word problems. She has a mental block that word problems are difficult. This year we will be working more on word problems, ratio and proportion and similar topics. We will be working on her mistakes and her math writing which is poor.
Sports - a) Last year she learnt breast stroke and butterfly in swimming. b)She is graded for next level Karate(orange to green Jr). c)She has started learning Kabbadi with her friends. Wish we get more time to do it regularly and find a better coach!
We are planning to add Chess the upcoming year.
DD2 (5yo entering Sr.KG)
she is ahead of her grade at reading and Maths. I am not able to spend quality time. Need to spend some quality time with her.
